Author: M. Krishnamoorthy, P.C. Shivadas

In 'The You In Journalism', authors P.C. Shivadas and M. Krishnamoorthy go beyond the basic writing and reporting tactics by illustrating that being a good journalist starts and ends with the individual on the job. The authors claim, in the early chapters of the book, that the individual working as a journalist is more than just flesh and blood; he is filled with feelings and emotions, perceptions, prejudices, strengths and weaknesses which are all interwoven and packaged in an attitude towards the self and others. In later chapters, topics such as relationship building, cultivating sources of information, asking the right questions and editing ones own work are discussed at great length and in detail. With a 33-year career in journalism, Shivadas is currently a member of the board of The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd and continues to write for the paper. Krishnamoorthy is a chief reporter in The Star newspaper. 'The You in Journalism' is his fourth book, following an exporters directory and two books related to tourism.
